We are pleased to announce a new Psychologist will be joining our team from the beginning of October. Greg Lewis has appointments available from 8th October for both psychological assessment and therapy. He is Medicare-registered and is able to see clients who have NDIS funding for psychological services.

Greg brings with him decades of experience working with clients experiencing psychological distress, social and interpersonal maladjustment, and quality of life, coping and resilience issues. He has worked in both acute and extended care settings with adult clients coping with a range of disabilities and clinical problems, including acquired brain injury, chronic pain, substance and opiate use and abuse, psychosis and mood disorders. He has worked with clients with disorders of personality and developmental problems of physical and sexual abuse. He has a particular interest in helping clients with personality disorder difficulties, including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) emotional, behavioural and relationship instability, and also with clients with depressive and adjustment disorders, drug abuse, addiction or drug dependency, or with drug-induced psychosis. He has considerable experience with clients with schizophrenia or other problems of psychosis.

Greg informs his intervention and treatment through a range of approaches including:

  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT),

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI),

  • Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),

  • Behavioural Activation and Cognitive Therapy Treatments for Depression.

  • Brief, Solution-Focused Interventions,

  • Evidence-Based Addiction Treatments,

  • Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT) and Social Skills Training for Schizophrenia, and

  • Personality Disorder Skill Development Approaches for Emotional Dysregulation and Impulsive Behaviour.

These approaches are used in the context of a positive, engaging, non-judgemental and supportive counselling relationship so as to maximise client trust, self-acceptance and improvement of personal and social adjustment and resilience. Greg has also a developing interest in narrative therapy and applying the philosophical principles and techniques of Stoicism in the CBT context.
