Paediatric Occupational Therapy Services Now Available
We are excited to welcome Occupational Therapist Jijoe Iykara to our team. He will be starting at Regional & Rural Mental Health Services in early June 2019 and will be providing Paediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) services such as:
Functional Assessments
Developmental Assessments
Early Intervention
Individual Therapy
Parent Education
Jijoe can see NDIS Participants that have Occupational Therapy included on their NDIS Plans. He is also Medicare registered so some of his services will attract a Medicare Rebate if the appropriate referrals are in place.
Jijoe has a particular interest in treating children on the Autistic Spectrum (ASD). He is also experienced in the treatment of ADHD, Global developmental delay, Down syndrome, Cerebral palsy, Developmental coordination disorder, Intellectual disability, Sensory processing disorder and Dyspraxia.
Jijoe can help children with:
Fine motor skills and gross motor skills
Sensory processing difficulties
Handwriting difficulties
Self-care skills
Social skills and emotional regulation strategies
Coordination and motor planning
School readiness skills
Jijoe has attended many workshops over the years and is trained in ABA therapy techniques by The Scott Center for Autism Treatment, Florida Institute of Technology USA and has also attended the Introductory course in Bobath-NDT by MAES Therapy London.
Jijoe uses a family centred approach to therapy and collaborates with family, Teachers and other professionals involved in the child’s care. He also has a keen interest in developing individualised therapeutic strategies to support inclusion in the school setting. Jijoe delivers his service in the clinic and in the child’s natural environment -home, school, kindergarten, childcare.
Jijoe is registered with AHPRA, and he is a member of OT Australia.
